  General Policy

  • Our goals are to ensure the efficient use of natural resources with an awareness of environmental and energy responsibility; to increase energy efficiency, create renewable energy sources, minimize all types of waste arising from resource consumption, separate waste at the source and dispose of hazardous materials without harming the environment, comply with and continuously improve relevant laws and regulations, contribute to instilling environmental awareness in our employees, guests, tour operators, suppliers and the community, make our policy a way of life, ensure the continuity of our practices so that it spreads to every aspect of our lives, and keep it open to public scrutiny.
    We aim to provide regular training for our employees, continuously improve their working conditions, identify potential hazards and risks in advance, and prevent possible work accidents and occupational diseases.
    We aim to protect human health and human rights in a team spirit, to provide a safe and healthy working environment, to raise awareness among all our employees through training, to instill in them the fundamental duty of not endangering their own health and safety, the health and safety of other employees and our guests, and to continuously improve the prevention culture by reviewing our risk analyses. This is our policy.
    We aim to work to prevent the exploitation of vulnerable groups without giving opportunities for discrimination on issues such as race, gender, and disability, and to increase the number and quality of local employment created by tourism, including increasing wages and service quality.

    We aim to benefit cultural heritage and minimize damage to cultural heritage.
    Our purchasing policy is geared towards local, environmentally conscious, fair trade and efficient purchasing. We monitor the sustainability processes of our suppliers.
    We aim to maximize guest satisfaction by anticipating their expectations and needs.
    We aim to provide social and economic benefits to the local community and minimize negative impacts on the public.
    Our hotel provides accurate information to all segments of society in its promotions. It always uses real visual material in its promotions. On its website, social media accounts and other printed and written promotional channels and marketing communications, our hotel has a transparent and realistic structure in terms of its products and services. We take all necessary measures to increase local employment, protect and enrich natural life in our region, and share all our activities aimed at protecting our environment with the public.

Promoting and protecting cultural heritage, cooperating with local people, and combating climate change are integral parts of this goal.

To protect and promote local culture, we ensure that our guests are introduced to local handicrafts, culinary culture, and lifestyles.   • PURCHASING PHILOSOPHY AND PURCHASING POLICY
    OUR ECONOMIC POLICY

    We will ensure that the food and beverage items purchased for our facility are of the highest quality, compliant with their purpose and relevant legislation, and also locally produced. To limit and minimize the environmental impact of our operations, we will evaluate the following criteria during purchasing, along with price, quality, and suitability, and consider not only the purchase cost but also the lifetime cost when purchasing products:
    Preference for equipment and products that consume less energy,
    Preference for equipment and products that consume less water,
    Preference for equipment, products, and services that produce less waste,
    Preference for materials that cause the least harm to the environment,
    We will communicate with our suppliers to raise awareness about the procurement of sustainable products and services. Our organization works with local/regional suppliers to ensure responsible procurement in order to fulfill and support its social responsibility throughout the entire supply chain. We view our raw material and technical suppliers as important partners with whom we develop trust relationships through open, equal, and fair trade. Our organization also promotes a Sustainable Management System throughout the supply chain, including with our suppliers, taking into account environmental, quality, occupational safety, and human rights, in order to gain the trust of the community.

  • HUMAN RIGHTS AND EMPLOYEE RIGHTS POLICY
    Olen Üsküdar Pension, which holds a respected and reliable position through its activities and performance, aims to create a work environment that respects human rights within the framework of sustainable tourism and to increase the awareness and understanding of its employees, customers, and stakeholders by spreading this understanding.
    Olen Üsküdar Pension staff conduct their relationships with each other and with guests based on respect for human rights and ethical principles, without discrimination based on language, religion, race, gender, philosophical belief, sect, etc., within the framework of honesty, trust, impartiality, and transparency, and maintain these relationships in a way that avoids behaviors that could be perceived as mistreatment and does not disrupt the working environment.
    Hotel managers are obligated to take necessary measures to prevent any instances of mistreatment, discrimination, or harassment, and to report any suspected cases to the Human Resources department. Such complaints will not be used against the complainant, and the situation will be seriously investigated and resolved. If our management detects the existence of discrimination, harassment, or other forms of mistreatment, it will apply the necessary administrative sanctions against the responsible individuals.

  • OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY
    At Olen Üsküdar Pension, we will be open to continuous improvement and relevant parties in order to reduce, manage, and sustain risks in accordance with legal regulations and requirements in occupational health and safety.
    Employee health and safety is the responsibility of all Olen Üsküdar Pension employees.
    Responsibilities and authorities for fulfilling laws, regulations, decrees, and other Occupational Health and Safety requirements are shared among all our employees.
    At Olen Üsküdar Pension, employee health and safety is as important as our other business objectives. To prevent accidents, we think in a risk-based manner and choose safer methods. It is essential to provide training to our employees to create and develop their individual responsibility regarding employee health and safety issues. At Olen Üsküdar Pansiyon, all resources are used in the most appropriate and beneficial way to create an efficient, safe, and healthy working environment, to facilitate effective communication, and to increase the individual performance of our employees.

  • NATURAL LIFE CONSERVATION VISITING RULES
    Our guesthouse prioritizes the protection of the natural environment and adherence to sustainable tourism principles during guests' visits to natural areas.
    In this context, our establishment operates within the framework of:
    Environmental Law No. 2872,
    National Parks Law,
    UNESCO Sustainable Tourism Principles,
    United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 12 and 15).
    Guests are informed about not harming the environment in natural areas, not disturbing flora and fauna, not leaving waste, and not going outside designated areas.
    Practices related to visits to natural areas are monitored through guest information, staff guidance, and periodic checks. Necessary measures are taken when situations that may pose an environmental risk are identified.
    Our guesthouse is committed to contributing to the protection of natural areas and acting in accordance with relevant national and international guidelines.
    1- Shoes should not be worn inside the mosque, women should wear headscarves, and food and drinks should not be brought in. 2- Artifacts exhibited in museums should not be touched or damaged. Video and photo recording should not be done in prohibited areas, and written or verbal rules must be followed. www.muze.gov.tr
    3- Ancient city sites should not be destroyed, protected areas should not be entered, and their surroundings should not be polluted.
    4- Picnicking, lighting fires, littering, and paying attention to warning signs should be avoided in natural recreation areas and forests.
    5- Inappropriate closeness should not be established with adults and children in these areas, and people should not be disturbed.
    6- Hunting should be carried out in accordance with the laws and rules established for hunting. Respect for wildlife and natural life should be shown.
    7- The buying and selling of historical artifacts should not be done without the necessary permits and documents. Illegal buying and selling should not be done.
    8- To protect biodiversity, do not buy products from endangered species.
    9- Animals encountered in their natural habitat should not be petted, fed, or harmed.

  • WILDLIFE CONSERVATION
    Our guesthouse prioritizes wildlife conservation and the sustainability of the natural balance in its operations. In this context, our establishment operates within the framework of:
    Environmental Law No. 2872,
    Hunting Law No. 4915,
    Bern Convention (Convention on the Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats),
    United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
    Our guesthouse informs guests about the importance of not feeding or disturbing wild animals, and not damaging their habitats, and aims to minimize environmental impacts. Practices related to wildlife conservation are monitored through guest and staff briefings, environmental observations, and periodic checks. Necessary measures are taken when situations that may pose a risk are identified. Our guesthouse is committed to contributing to the protection of wildlife and acting in accordance with relevant national and international legislation.

  • CULTURAL HERITAGE AND BIODIVERSITY PROTECTION POLICY
    Our guesthouse prioritizes the protection of cultural heritage and biodiversity in its operations and acts in line with sustainable tourism principles. In this context, our establishment operates within the framework of:
    Law No. 2863 on the Protection of Cultural and Natural Heritage,
    Law No. 2872 on the Environment,
    UNESCO Convention on the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage,
    United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
    Our guesthouse avoids practices that may harm historical and cultural values, respects natural life and environmental balance, ensures water and energy conservation, and prioritizes the management of waste without harming the environment. Practices related to the protection of cultural heritage and biodiversity are monitored through periodic checks, staff briefings, and coordination with relevant institutions. Necessary measures are taken when potential risks are identified. Our guesthouse is committed to complying with national and international regulations and leaving a livable environment for future generations.
